Overview of たんぼ
たんぼ (Tanbo) is a wonderful invention that takes roots in Japanese colorful rice fields. The game represents a strategies, prepare & relax type of game in which players can cultivate their own rice field. Located in a beautiful countryside, the participants enjoy getting into the tempo of farming and yields wide produce. Frey’s idea seems to be that it is simultaneously logical and enjoyable to plan a course of action and to synchronize it with the changing seasons.
It all began in a small and compact piece of land where players are given sparse equipment but as they progress through grow seasons and progress though the level they are graduated to bigger pieces of land with more equipment. Features of gameplay consist in such aspects as water control, pest control, and rice plant care. The visuals in the song たんぼ are colorful with shots of water, plants and great depictions of Japan’s farming instruments and procedures. The sound fits the picture; one can listen to soft, ending sometimes with impressive melodies and the sounds of nature.
