Overview of Writer Chapter 1
Writer Chapter 1 is of a fully realized narrative based mystery, exploration & creation game. Inspired by horror/dark ambient Writer Chapter 1 is centered around the character who is suffering from writer’s block and is in attempts to complete their greatest work. The protagonist of Writer Chapter 1 acts as this player and finds themselves in an equally terrifying Victorian mansion which appears to be a reflection of every fear and anxiety the player has. Every room in the mansion tells the story of the writer, partly exposing a graphic account of her or his challenges and the cause of their internal conflict.
During the time the protagonist advances, he faces different types of puzzles, some symbolic items, shadowy characters that are symmetrical to the writer’s regrettables. All these issues are mutually connected with the path of the writer’s main character’s healing. Messages are received in form of notes, rhyming words, hallucinations, and whispers that pop up on the screen thus making the reality and fantasy to blur. You may also like: Endless Alice.
The gameplay of the narrative is composed of exploration, puzzles, & making decisions that affect the gameplay’s story. With each of the chapters, the protagonist also learns not only to write but also deals with internal and external difficulties. This paper argues that Writer Chapter 1 successfully builds up suspense, powerful emotions, & a cliffhanger that would make players want the next part.
